The State Council Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office spokesman: The so-called sanctions imposed by the United States on officials of the China government and the Hong Kong SAR government are hysterica
Xinhua News Agency, Beijing, August 9-A spokesman for the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council said in a speech on August 9 that the recent announcement by the US authorities to impose sanctions on the heads of Hong Kong-related departments of the China government and relevant officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government fully exposed the hegemonic habits of some American politicians, which was a hysterical attack after their miscalculation in political calculations on the Hong Kong issue and was doomed to be futile.
The spokesman said that since the "storm of amending laws" in Hong Kong in June last year, some anti-China and anti-Communist forces in the United States thought they had found a new opportunity to instigate the "color revolution", frequently arranged for leading figures of Hong Kong opposition to visit the United States and received them in a high standard, publicly cheered for street violence, smeared and attacked the law enforcement actions of the SAR government and the police, and provided support and encouragement to the opposition and radical forces in Hong Kong in various ways. They are also full of expectations for the trilogy in which the opposition and radical forces in Hong Kong won more than half of the seats and seized power in the seventh Legislative Council election of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. In June this year, after the National People’s Congress Standing Committee (NPCSC) enacted the Hong Kong National Security Law, some American politicians seemed to jump up in anger. From abolishing the so-called special treatment of the United States for Hong Kong, to rectifying some countries’ pressure on China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in the international arena, and then announcing the so-called sanctions against the heads of Hong Kong-related institutions of the China government and relevant officials of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government, what the United States did was a naked hegemonic act, completely ignoring international law and norms of international relations.
The spokesman said that the real reasons why the US authorities and some American politicians are so anxious and reckless on the Hong Kong issue are, after all, an attempt to cover up their incompetence in dealing with domestic epidemic prevention and economic issues, and to pass on contradictions by dumping China, shirking responsibility and creating foreign enemies, so as to alleviate the difficulties and pressures they face at home. Second, seeing that the China government has resolutely taken various effective measures, including enacting Hong Kong’s national security law, to push Hong Kong out of order and get back on track, they deeply feel that its long-term and painstaking attempt to turn Hong Kong into a "bastion of freedom" to infiltrate and subvert the mainland of China, contain and contain the development of China will come to nothing. However, it can be said with certainty that neither of the two abacus of the United States will work. Under "one country, two systems", we will never allow any external forces to use Hong Kong to carry out activities that endanger China’s national security and the prosperity and stability of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The future and destiny of Hong Kong are firmly in the hands of the China people, including Hong Kong compatriots. The shameless performance of American politicians is only a vivid interpretation of American hypocrisy and American bullying, which makes the world see clearly the ugly face of modern hegemonists and the true evil intentions hidden under the cloak of "freedom" and "democracy".
The spokesman said, we are glad to see that the Chief Executive of Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor and many other SAR government officials have said in response to the so-called US sanctions that safeguarding national security is a glorious and lofty responsibility, and they will continue to do their best to serve the country and Hong Kong without fear of any intimidation. We like this righteous response!
